February 9, 2010

Dear Families and Friends,

Last week VOICES launched its 9/11 Living Memorial workshops at the Women in Military Service Museum in Washington DC.  VOICES staff had an opportunity to meet with 9/11 families and survivors of the Pentagon attacks.  This was our first visit to the area and we were encouraged by the positive response to the 9/11 Living Memorial Project.  Despite the impending snow storm some families traveled long distances. We thank the staff at the Women in Military Service Museum for their hospitality and extend a special thanks to Karen Loftus, Kathy Dillaber and Mark Ward for their efforts to coordinate the event.

This week marks the first anniversary of the airline crash of Continental Flight 3407 which took the life of our friend and colleague, Beverly Eckert.  Beverly's family has requested that we make our membership aware of the efforts of the families of flight 3407 to promote reforms that will improve aviation safety.  As we approach the anniversary of this tragic event we remember Beverly and her dedication to the 9/11 community with fondness.

We hope you enjoy the holiday weekend ahead!

Warm regards,

Mary Fetchet & The VOICES Staff
