VOICES News Alert

August 3, 2012

Dear Families and Friends,

Voices of September 11th will host several events to commemorate the 11th Anniversary. More than 300 of our members helped us plan the events by responding to our survey. Their suggestions guided our staff in creating programs that are designed to be informative, commemorative, and provide an opportunity for the 9/11 community to come together for the 11th Anniversary. Many 9/11 families asked us to plan a commemorative luncheon on September 11th following the observance.

We are very excited about this year's program and grateful to the 9/11 Memorial, St. Peter's R.C. Church and World Yacht Enterprises for supporting our annual Day of Remembrance events. We have included information and an invitation below. Please feel free to distribute the information to other family members and friends who may be interested in attending.

September 10th - Information Forum

On Monday, September 10th, Voices of September 11th will host our
11th Anniversary Day of Remembrance Information Forum from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Marriott Downtown Hotel located at 85 West Street in New York City. Registration begins at 10:00am. The Forum will include presentations, panel discussions, 9/11 artwork and an exhibit featuring photographs from the Always Remember Commemorative Book. This year we are very excited to collaborate with the National September 11 Memorial & Museum to include a preview of the Memorial Exhibition that will be part of the 9/11 Memorial Museum. The exhibition will be on display until 6:00pm.

Several family members have requested that we also offer Living Memorial appointments. A limited number of appointments will be available. To schedule your appointment, call Debbie Westfal at 203-966-3911 or e-mail her at dwestfal@voicesofsept11.org.

September 10th - Interfaith Service

VOICES will host an
Interfaith Service at the historic St. Peter's R.C. Church on Barclay Street in Lower Manhattan at 5:30pm. The service will include uplifting music and reflections. The Church is located a few blocks from the 9/11 Memorial. Light refreshments will be served following the service. 9/11 families and friends, rescue and recovery workers, and survivors are invited to attend both the Forum and Interfaith Service. There is no charge for either event - but your reservation will allow us to plan accordingly.

September 11th Commemorative Luncheon Cruise for Family Members

Following the commemorative ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial, Voices of September 11th and World Yacht Enterprises invite 9/11 family members to join us for a buffet luncheon and a cruise around the Statue of Liberty. The boat will receive passengers at the Battery Park Ferry Terminal at 12:00pm, departing at 12:30pm and returning at approximately 2:30pm. Thanks to the generosity of World Yacht Enterprises, the cost for the luncheon cruise is $25.00 per person.
Space is limited and reservations will be accepted on a first-come basis.

Reservations are required for all the events. Please contact Debbie Westfal at 203-966-3911 or by e-mail at dwestfal@voicesofsept11.org.

Hotel Reservations

We have made arrangements with two hotels to offer a special rate for hotel accommodations for members of the 9/11 community. For more information about hotel arrangements, please call our New Canaan office at 203-966-3911 at your earliest convenience. These special offers are available until mid August and are available on a first-come basis.

In the coming weeks we will provide more details on the 11th Anniversary Day of Remembrance events. Please contact us if you have any questions or if we can be of any assistance.
