Joe Daniels, President & CEO of the 9/11 Memorial recently announced that there will be extended hours to visit the Memorial during the holidays. From Friday, December 21 to Monday, December 31, the Memorial will be open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, with the last entry at 7:00 pm. As Joe said in his announcement, "this holiday schedule will allow evening visitors to see the extraordinary beauty of the waterfalls and names inscribed in bronze when they are illuminated." Karen Loftus in the Office of the Chief Prosecutor of Military Commissions asked us to forward a letter about the schedule of hearings and also your rights if you are contacted by someone who says they are part of the defense team or the Military Commission. The hearings originally scheduled for December 3 - 7 have been postponed; the next hearings are now scheduled for January 18 - 31, February 12 - 15 and April 22 - 25, 2013. Representative Peter King has completed his tenure as Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. He will be succeeded by Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas, a former U.S. attorney. Rep. King told the Daily News that he counts preserving the region's counter-terror funding as one of the top achievements of his chairmanship. To read the Daily News article click here. |
