Dear Families and Friends,

Mark you calendars for VOICES Annual Information Forum which will be held once again at the Downtown Marriott Hotel in New York City on Tuesday, September 10th. The daylong forum will include panel discussions and exhibits on a variety of topics for the 9/11 community, including updates on the Victims Compensation Fund and information on eligibility and applications for the World Trade Center Health Program. Staff will be available to answer questions and assist you in completing the application forms. The event is free, but for planning purposes please make a reservation by emailing us forumrsvp@voicesofsept11.org or calling us at 203-966-3911. In the coming weeks we will be sending out additional information. We hope you will join us!

VOICES has reserved a block of rooms for our members at the Downtown Marriott Hotel from  9/9 through 9/11. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, August 28th and are available on a first come basis. Room rates are $359 plus tax. Contact us at 203-966-3911 for information on making a reservation.

The September 11th Commemoration ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. Family members of victims from the 2001 and 1993 attacks will participate in this year's reading of the names. If you are a family member who would like to read, please visit www.911memorial.org/ceremonyreaders to complete an online form or call 212-312-8855. 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund Educational Session - August 7

An educational session on the Victim Compensation Forum will be held in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn on Wednesday, August 7 from 6:00 - 8:00pm. 9/11 responders, workers and volunteers are invited to attend. The participants will answer questions about the application process and the distribution of awards. The deadline to apply to the Victim Compensation Fund is October 3, 2013. "Walk With Joe" Memorial 5K Walk - September 7


The 11th annual "Walk With Joe" 5K Walk will take place on Saturday. September 7 at 10:00 am at Monmouth Battlefield State Park in Manalapan, NJ.  The event honors the lives of Patrick "Joe" Driscoll, Christopher Gray and Tom McCann, who lost their lives on September 11th.  All proceeds are donated to local charities and non-profit organizations. 9-11 Memorial Service in Rochester, NY - September 8

A memorial service will be held in Rochester, NY at 10:00 am on Sunday, September 8 in Rochester, New York. It will be followed by a First Responder Lunch which will be open to all. To attend the lunch, contact the Rochester Christian Church Ministries at 528-247-4444. More

"Harlem Got Talent" Summer Program

Family member Clyde Frazier, Sr. asked us to share news about an organization that he is supporting, "Harlem Got Talent."  The students are working this summer with Musical Director, Hal Kresner.  They are learning to sing, play instruments and create dance routines, beginning with "Stand By Me."  They meet every Tuesday all summer to give the students an activity while school is out.

9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance - September 11th


My Good Deed is conducting their campaign again this year  to inspire millions of people to do good deeds in observance of 9/11.  If you would like to participate, visit www.911day.org and post your pledge to do a good deed this year in remembrance of those lost on 9/11.  In a number of cities, including New York, Washington, DC, Boston, Dallas, Phoenix and St. Louis, you can sign up to participate in special volunteer projects from September 7 to September 11.  To sign up, or to request more information, email info@911day.org.

National 9/11 Flag displayed for last time publicly at wounded vet ceremony
It wasn't just any flag. It was the National 9/11 Flag, which was rescued from the ruins of the World Trade Center following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. And at the Boaz Fairgrounds, the flag made its final public appearance before it becomes part of the collection at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum. More.
Accused 9/11 Plotters May Be Barred From Hearings, Judge Says
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others accused of masterminding the terror attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon will be excluded from pretrial hearings when classified information is disclosed, a judge said. More.
