IN THIS WEEK'S ISSUE

UPCOMING EVENTS

May 19, 2006

DEAR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS,

Mother's Day has come and gone. Thank you to those family members who shared their thoughts with us. Some expressed feeling sadness as they anticipated the day and relieved when it was behind them. Others avoided focusing on it until they were confronted with the day. Many families mentioned that they found it important to consciously focus on their surviving family members, in addition to taking time to reflect and remember the memory of their loved one by visiting the cemetery,
lighting a candle or praying. I've personally found it helpful to change our family rituals, by balancing private time with my family, as well as, time with close friends and family members.

This week the Governor made several appointments all designed to bring the WTC Memorial and Museum within the $500 million budget, they indicated it must meet. Sheldon Silver, Speaker of the NYS Assembly held an oversight hearing about the delays in the redevelopment at Ground
Zero. We have included our summary of the public hearing below. In addition, Frank Sciame, appointed by Governor Pataki to oversee a committee that includes the memorial design team and the master planner, to refine the memorial redesign proposals by June 15, hopefully without harming the
design intent. Following the redesign process there will be public hearings and a final design decided on in July with the goal of beginning construction by September 11th. (Article) We will keep you informed of those dates.

For this process to succeed it is crucial that those involved recognize they have a responsibility to keep us all informed as refinements are made to the memorial design. Careful consideration must be given to the family's concerns to avoid changes that would detract from the grace, power and dignity of the memorial. Most importantly, open minds will be required on the part of everyone involved - from our leaders to our families. We know how important the WTC Memorial is to our families and
will continue to keep you informed as the process evolves.

Our best wishes to you and your family.

NYS ASSEMBLY HOLDS GROUND ZERO OVERSIGHT HEARING

Sheldon Silver, Speaker of the New York State Assembly, held an oversight hearing on the process of Ground Zero redevelopment Thursday at WTC 7. Silver, who represents lower Manhattan in the Assembly called the hearing last week to add “transparency” to the redevelopment, which has been plagued by delays and infighting among the major players. That bureaucratic layering was on full display at the hearing, with top-level officials defending the conduct of an “alphabet soup” of State, City, and private entities charged with delivering, in Silverstein’s words, “a better, brighter lower Manhattan than has ever existed before.” Two issues of high importance to 9/11 families, the WTC Memorial and recovery of human remains, were high on the agenda. About 20 9/11 Family Members were in attendance at the hearing. Some voiced disagreements with testimony, especially about the process for discovering remains at the Deutsche Bank building and Speaker Silver occasionally had to call the room to order. No 9/11 family members were invited to offer testimony. Click to read full article and click the links below for more information.

LMDC PRESIDENT DEFENDS RECOVERY EFFORTS AT DEUTSCHE BANK BUILDING -- LMDC President Stefan Pryor faced tough questioning on the process for recovering human remains at the Deutsche Bank building from Assemblywoman Linda B. Rosenthal, defending his organization’s protocols as "very rigorous" (VOICES)

SOME ASPECTS OF WTC MEMORIAL BECOME CLEARER, OTHERS MUST WAIT -- All participants in the Assembly oversight hearing recognized that the WTC Memorial will be the centerpiece of a redeveloped Ground Zero, but the hearing showed its future is far from certain (VOICES)

Paramount Pictures is releasing this film on August 9, 2006.

Movie Trailer – the trailer for “World Trade Center" will be in theaters on May 19th. Paramount is hoping to place it with “The Da Vinci code” because of the adult audience it will attract, but it is at the discretion of theater operators to place it with other films as they see fit. It will continue to be placed with films throughout the summer. The trailer will premier on the website on May 17th. Additionally, you might see previews of the trailer footage on entertainment and news programming as early as May 16th.

Website – the official website, www.wtcmovie.com, was launched on May 1st, and the full site will be up in June. Initially it will just provide a brief description of the film. Later on, the trailer will be available along with an initial list of movies that it will be playing with.

Cannes Film Festival – Director Oliver Stone is being honored at the Cannes Film Festival this year, as it is the 25th anniversary of his Oscar-winning movie “Platoon.” As part of the Festival, Oliver will be previewing some footage of “World Trade Center” to international and domestic media. This Festival event will be on May 21.

Television Advertising – Television advertising will begin in June. We will provide additional information on this type of advertising either on the website or via email in the near future.

Outdoor Advertising – Outdoor advertising for the film, which will appear in the form of the image of the poster that we sent to you in February, will begin in June as well. Additional information on outdoor advertising is also forthcoming. Outdoor adverting in the New York City area will be dramatically scaled back in order to be sensitive to those impacted by the attacks in our area.

Screenings – Screenings of the film will not begin until the mid-summer. Additional information on screenings will be provided via the major 9/11 family and survivor groups at a later date.

Donation - Paramount Pictures is planning to make a charitable donation(s) in conjunction with the film to a number of select 9/11 charities. As there are a number of worthy organizations, the selections are being made with the utmost care and sensitivity. An announcement will be made prior to the release of the film.

As always, if you have questions or comments about “World Trade Center”, please contact Jennifer Brown at jbrown@a2bllc.com or (917) 885-3672.
