DEAR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS,
We hope all of you in the Southern New Jersey/Eastern Pennsylvania areas will be able to join us next Wednesday for our 9/11 Living Memorial Workshop in Jamison, Bucks County, PA. This week's 9/11 Living Memorial Feature is a memorial in Wayne County, PA that honors the service of the brave first responders and armed service members who keep us safe and protect our freedoms. There are also many upcoming Memorial Foundation events in June. We hope you will consider attending to support the many wonderful foundations that continue to do good deeds in memory of those who perished on September 11th.
Today I am in Lakeville, Connecticut for my youngest son Chris' graduation. We're very proud of all Chris has accomplished despite the loss of Brad, who was an important role model and beloved big brother to Chris. With my family on this joyful day, I was struck by how important the support of family and friends is in promoting resiliency. I share the pride and happiness of all of you celebrating these important milestones with your family members.

Nestled in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania in the beautiful Poconos region, sits a stirring memorial not only to those who perished, but also to those who answered their nation's call to action in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, and those who continue to serve today. The Wayne County 9/11 Memorial honors the close ties of country, society and family that keep our nation strong. America will face many challenges and make many sacrifices in the years to come. Yet a nation built from thousands of communities like Wayne County, where collective memory inspires the best in its citizens, must endure and will prevail. A moving dedication is inscribed on a plaque at the memorial's base:

"LEST WE EVER FORGET. On a clear day, September 11, 2001 America suffered surprise attacks by foreign terrorists upon her homeland. At the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon outside Washington, and finally in a field near a village named Shanksville in Pennsylvania.
After a time, rubble was removed, smoke and minds cleared, yet the memory remained. The People of Wayne County decided to erect a permanent memorial to stand as a permanent reminder, not of the suffering our country has endured, but to honor those who serve and save us in times like that day. We pay tribute to our firefighters, police, emergency medical personnel and armed services, all of whom continue to dedicate themselves to serving, saving, and protecting the rest of us.
Steel from "Ground Zero" in NYC, American Stone, Land, Labor and Love completed this monument. Dedicated by the Grateful People of Wayne County, Pennsylvania. This 11th Day in the Month of September 2005."

"Some people are more diplomatic then others but the message is often the same - individuals bereaved by 9/11 often hear the subtle or not so subtle advice to “get back out there.” Finding and making friends, developing new relationships, getting involved in new activities as an adult can feel like an overwhelming task. Dating can be even scarier. It’s not unusual to think “where do I start?..."
That question and many more are answered in the article, along with helpful advice on setting and meeting social goals. Of particular interest to caregivers is a section that answers

"The Rescue" is an eight foot bronze sculpture by world renowned artist Gregory Perillo
commemorating the 343 firefighters, and lives lost on September 11, 2001. Event presented by Staten Island University Hospital and Joseph Maffeo Foundation. Reception immediately following the ceremony in the Great Room, 2nd Floor,
