VOICES OF SEPTEMBER 11TH HOLDS ANNUAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE SEPTEMBER 10, 2009
WHAT: Voices of September 11th (VOICES), a leading national nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the long-term needs of all those impacted by the events of September 11, 2001, announces eighth anniversary commemorative 9/11 event in New York including Building Bridges Award in memory of Beverly Eckert for her outstanding advocacy work on behalf of the 9/11 community. The Day of Remembrance event will include Panel Discussions on: Documenting the Stories of Corporations for VOICES 9/11 Living Memorial; Advocating for Public Policy Reform including updates on Fresh Kills and Guantanamo Bay; Meeting the Needs of the 9/11 Community; National Day of Service as well as updates on the National September 11 Memorial & Museum; VOICES 9/11 Living Memorial; and NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
WHO: VOICES Founding Director Mary Fetchet and Frank Fetchet; National September 11 Memorial & Museum President & CEO Joe Daniels and Director Alice Greenwald; Keefe, Bruyette and Woods CEO John Duffy: Former Chairman of Thacher, Proffitt & Wood Jack Williams; David Paine and Jay Winuk Co-Founders of My Good Deed; Project Rebirth President Jim Whitaker and Chairman Brian Rafferty; as well as 9/11 family members, rescue workers and survivors will participate in VOICES Day of Remembrance.
WHEN: Thursday, September 10th from 9am to 6pm.
WHERE: New York Marriott Downtown at 85 West Street.
WHY: With offices in New Canaan, CT. and New Brunswick, NJ, VOICES Day of Remembrance events for the 9/11 community are part of a wide range of services VOICES offers for 9/11 families, rescue workers and survivors including focus groups, teleconference groups, case management services as well as workshops to create the 9/11 Living Memorial Project tribute pages.

About VOICES of September 11th
Voices of September 11th (VOICES) is committed to its core mission of supporting the ongoing needs of those impacted by the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01 by providing a wide range of programs including teleconference groups, case management services, 9/11 Living Memorial workshops and annual 9/11 Day of Remembrance events.
VOICES is led by Founding Director Mary Fetchet, a clinical social worker who lost her 24-year-old son Brad on 9/11. VOICES supported the creation of the 9/11 Commission and continues to advocate for reforms to promote preparedness on the local state and federal level. VOICES membership has grown to over 7,300 9/11 families and their children, rescue workers and survivors. In addition to the New Canaan, CT office, on August 31, 2009 VOICES opened an office in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
VOICES 9/11 Living Memorial Project is an online digital archive that commemorates the nearly 3,000 lives lost and documents stories of survivors. VOICES skilled social workers help families create a meaningful tribute to their loved ones though an extensive collection of photographs, written tributes and personal keepsakes that will be preserved for future generations. The archive will become a core component of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center.
