March 5, 2010

Dear Families and Friends,

The 9/11 Living Memorial Project continues to expand as we broaden our outreach. In addition to our ongoing workshops throughout the tri-state area, we had the pleasure of meeting with families and survivors in Washington, DC. This month we look forward to traveling to Boston.

Our New Jersey office is hosting a number of special events, including a month long exhibit at the New Brunswick Free Public Library entitled September 11: How We Remember. Tomorrow’s opening ceremony includes an educational program for children featuring a collection of photographs, quilts and other mementos from Voices of September 11th “9/11 Living Memorial Project”. We are very excited about working with the children in the New Brunswick community.

On March 23 from 5pm to 7pm our New Brunswick office will host a workshop to assist families with the process of applying for college scholarship financial assistance. Representatives from Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund and Rutgers University will join VOICES staff to discuss opportunities.

In the coming week the film “Remember Me” will open nationwide. Although the story is fictional, it takes place during the summer of 2001. We wanted to caution families that the story ends the morning of September 11th. Characters depicted in the film are directly affected by the attacks on the twin towers, which could prove upsetting to some family members, especially children who may have lost a family member.

As always, we hope to see you at one of our upcoming events. Feel free to contact our office if we can be of assistance.

Warm regards,

Mary Fetchet & The VOICES Staff
