Dear Families and Friends,
The Anne Frank Museum and Voices of September 11th will co-host a 4-session diary writing workshop beginning in May. We hope you will join us! The workshop will be taught by Maureen McNeil, the Director of Education at the new Anne Frank Center Gallery, located at 44 Park Place, four blocks north of the 9/11 Memorial. The workshop will be held on 4 consecutive Tuesday's from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.: Tuesday, May 15, 22, 29 and June 5th.
The fee is $50, and includes four workshop sessions and a blank journal. Space is limited, and reservations are required. For more information or to make a reservation, contact Michelle Doherty at 203-966-3911 or by email at mdoherty@voicesofsept11.org.
This hands-on workshop will help participants get started writing a personal diary. The introduction will include Anne Frank's accomplishments through writing and examples of other diaries written around the world in the last 1,000 years. Bring your questions and concerns. Practice the creative process and the freedom of a blank page. Try out various writing styles and reflective prompts that will encourage even non-writers in the art of self-discovery through daily writing. Experience the quiet internal healing that occurs with writing. As Anne Frank found, her diary was "a great sense of comfort and support."
The Anne Frank Center USA, a partner to the Anne Frank House, was founded in 1977 by Otto Frank. Through a variety of innovative programs and exhibitions, the Center uses Anne Frank as a role model to inspire students, educators and citizens to help build a world based on mutual respect. The Anne Frank Center is located at 44 Park Place, two blocks north of the 9/11 Memorial.
Warm Regards
Mary Fetchet & the VOICES Staff
