Dear Families and Friends,
VOICES Always Remember Gala is just two weeks away! We hope you will join us for a very special evening! Kathie Lee Gifford is our distinguished keynote speaker and David Friedman, an accomplished composer and pianist, will provide inspirational music along with our vocalists. The Gala will be held on Wednesday, June 20th at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers in New York City overlooking the Hudson River. The VIP reception and silent auction begin at 6:00 pm.
Of course, Kathie Lee needs no introduction as she has been entertaining us all for years - first as co-host of the Regis and Kathie Lee and now as co-host of the fourth hour of the Today Show with Hoda Kotb. What you may not know about her is that she has a very personal connection to September 11th. On 9/11 at the time of the attacks, Kathie Lee and her husband Frank Gifford were at their Greenwich home on Long Island Sound. She later learned that her assistant and longtime friend lost her husband, who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. Her assistant was seven months pregnant on 9/11 and her loss inspired Kathie Lee to write a beautiful song about a father's love for a child that he would never know. In reflecting on this, Kathie Lee has said "At the time, we thought we would never see light again; never see a happy day again. Now is a time to remember and thank again those who gave their lives trying to help others."
Kathie Lee's friend and collaborator composer David Friedman will also join us. David is an award winning composer and pianist. He has written hundreds of songs with Kathie Lee, and they have co-written and co-produced two children's CDs. One of them has just become a children's musical called Party Animals, produced at the Tampa Bay Center for the Performing Arts. David also co-wrote the score to the Broadway-bound musical Saving Aimee with Kathie Lee and David Pomeranz. He will serve as Music Director and will accompany vocalists Amanda Nisenson, Joan Carlo and Matt Thomas. Our favorite cellist, Nada Radulovich will also perform.
The Always Remember Gala is always an inspirational evening with music and laughter among friends. Who better to lead us than Kathie Lee Gifford, a woman who has dedicated her career to providing inspiration, music and laughter? We hope you will join us for another very special evening!
