Dear Families and Friends,

I hope this note finds you all well.  We wanted to share with you information from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum regarding the Pope's visit to the World Trade Center site.

On Friday, September 25, 2015, Pope Francis will be making a historic visit to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.  The pontiff's visit is another powerful example of the global significance placed on coming to this sacred ground.

Pope Francis will first visit the Memorial and pay his respects to the 2,983 victims of the February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001 terror attacks.  The New York Archdiocese will then host a Multi-Religious Meeting for Peace inside the Museum, led by the Pope with representatives of world religions.

Space for guests on the Memorial and in the Museum during the Pope's visit will be limited for security reasons.  To that end, the 9/11 Memorial is holding a lottery to offer members of the 9/11 community an opportunity to be on the Memorial plaza for the Pope's arrival, as well as for a very limited number of seats for the service inside the Museum.

Participation in the lottery is limited to members of the 9/11 community, including 9/11 and 1993 family members, 9/11 rescue and recovery workers, active duty first responders, 9/11 survivors, and lower Manhattan residents and business owners. Each person will be permitted one lottery entry, and no person may enter the lottery more than once.  If selected, you may bring one guest.  Those selected will be notified directly by August 21, 2015.  Your guest's name must be provided at time of notification.

The lottery is now open and will close at 9:00 AM (EST) on Wednesday, August 5, 2015.  Requests received after this time will not be included in the lottery.  The lottery entry form is available online at 911memorial.org/papalvisit.  Additional assistance is available by calling (212) 857-0155.  This dedicated phone line will be open weekdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

We hope you find this helpful.
Warm regards,
