Dear Families and Friends,
The heartbreaking news of the recent suicides of two Parkland students and the father of a child who was killed in the Sandy Hook shooting is a sobering reminder of the profound long-term impact these tragedies have on families, survivors, and the community-at-large. At this somber time, we offer our sincere condolences to their families and friends as they try to come to terms with yet another unimaginable loss.
It is sad situations like these that reinforce the importance of public awareness about the risks of suicide, along with reassurance that with the proper diagnosis and professional help, mental health conditions are treatable. In an effort to keep you informed, we have included information about the signs, symptoms, and prevention of suicide, available on our website. We encourage you to share the information with anyone you know who may be at risk.
Remember if you or someone you know is in distress, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
Warm regards,
Mary Fetchet and the VOICES Staff
