Dear Friends,

Welcome to 2022!

VOICES is committed to Building a Resilient Community, and we are ringing in the New Year with two innovative workshops. Both are designed to promote personal wellness – a critical component of resilience, and each provides an opportunity to try something new.

Whether you are new to journaling and/or yoga, or have some prior experience with these practices, you are sure to find these workshops both informative and enriching. Registration is now open. Join us for one, or both, of these interactive experiences.

Warm regards,

Mary Fetchet & the VOICES Staff

Introduction to Journaling as a Self-Care Tool

Wednesday, January 19 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Presented by Nancy Scherlong, LCSW, PTR, CJT, M/S
Workshop Fee: $15, Registration Required

Research indicates that engaging in a regular writing practice can increase our awareness, reduce stress, and even improve some markers for physical health. But where do you start?

Join us for this 2-hour interactive and introductory workshop, presented by experienced clinician, Nancy Scherlong who will share tips and tools for how your journal can become one of your most trusted confidantes. No prior writing experience is needed and sharing is always optional. Though our group will be therapeutic, it does not, of course, substitute for therapy.

Workshop Facilitator:
Nancy Scherlong is a clinical social worker licensed in the states of CT and NY as well as a credentialed expressive writing specialist who utilizes journaling and poetry for therapeutic purposes and stress reduction. She is the owner of Change Your Narrative LCSW-PLLC, a coaching, psychotherapy and training practice. For over 25 years, Nancy has worked with groups and individuals to increase their life satisfaction and to promote positive adjustment after trauma or difficult experiences.

Attaining Wellness Through Yoga & Mindful Practice

Thursday, January 27 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm
Presented by Yoga Instructor, Wendy Boscia
Participation is free, Registration Required.

VOICES is stepping into the new year with a renewed commitment to strengthening our physical and mental health.

Join us for this foundational workshop when Wendy Boscia will share her expertise, focusing on the pillars of yoga practice: breath, and anchoring in the present moment. Participants will learn about mindfulness and meditation through a series of visualization and grounding exercises and will flow through a chair yoga sequence - bending, twisting, stretching, and lengthening the body while fully supported.

Workshop Facilitator:
Wendy Boscia completed her initial YA - 200 HR training in “Power/Vinyasa Yoga” and has been teaching for over 13 years. Wendy has gone on to receive extensive training and certifications in several styles of Yoga and Meditation, including Vinyasa, Yin, and Restorative as well as studied the subtle energies of Yoga and the anatomy of the body. Currently, Wendy teaches classes, meditation, and workshops and leads Yoga Alliance Teacher Training and Continuing Education at the Angel Wing in Ridgefield CT. She is also the Yoga and Wellness Ambassador for "Soul Sister Travels".
